About This Position

Data Architect

Energy storage is the most exciting area in energy today. Massive amounts of energy storage are required if renewable energy is to take its rightful place on the electric grid. Invinity provides an alternative to the most common type of battery, lithium-ion because the battery technology that works so well in our pockets doesnt work as well at the grid scale; it wears out, limits use, and even catches fire.
Manufactured as a standardised product in a factory, Invinitys vanadium flow batteries dont degrade, wont catch fire, and can be operated continuously from full charge to full discharge for over 30 years. Invinity has 75 megawatt-hours of its modular battery systems in 82 projects across 15 countries - more than any other company in the space. Weve deployed the largest flow battery systems in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and the UK, and are supported by the UK's National Wealth Fund, some of the worlds leading institutional investors and our projects are backed by major institutions including the U.S. Department of Energy and the UK Government.
A compelling product and recent funding put Invinity in a position to grow dramatically as it addresses the global imperative for stationary energy storage. Join us as we help transform renewable energy into a stable and dependable contributor to the transition to net zero.
Invinity has operations in the UK, Canada and the U.S. and trades publicly in the UK on AIM and in the U.S. on OTCQX. For more information about us visit our webpage.
The software team is developing our next generation data management and analytics platform, which complements our recently released next-generation Endurium Core software platform. Endurium Core provides integrated control of all aspects of the battery system and associated plant infrastructure; our re-architected cloud platform will provide enhanced monitoring, analytics and AI-enabled performance optimization across the fleet. In this role, you will be a key member of the team designing and implementing the data platform, from real-time ingestion of time-series data to secure storage to analytical functionality. This platform is critical to our future support of internal and external customers. Your work ensures that data systems are reliable, scalable, observable, and cost-efficient. Youll partner with cross-functional teams including scientists, engineers, data scientists and commercial representatives to ensure the platform meets the evolving needs of our business and our users. Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement the data infrastructure platform using appropriate technology components to support data ingestion, data consumption and stream processing
  • Optimize storage, compute, and cost management strategies for big data workloads
  • Build and support infrastructure for MLOps, including model registries, feature stores, and serving pipelines
  • Drive platform automation through CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, and observability practices
Required Experience and Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience in handling Big Data Systems in a production environment
  • Strong system design skills and ability to think about scale, reliability, and cost trade-offs
  • Technical domain expertise in one or more of the following areas: Real-time processing frameworks, Data Modelling, Data warehousing, Cloud Infrastructure
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills - comfortable supporting other engineering teams and building tools they love
  • Engineering degree or similar qualification, ideally with some electrical knowledge
