About This Position

Assistant Clinical Manager, Acute Care

Position Purpose: The Assistant Clinical Nurse Manager supports the daily operations of the ICU/Tele units, including coordinating staffing, assisting with clinical oversight, and supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. This role provides direct support to the Clinical Nurse Manager and serves as a resource for staff, patients, and families.

Essential Functions (list in order of importance including measures):

  1. Supports the effective use of internal and external resources to ensure appropriate unit staffing based on accepted standards of care.

  1. Supports the management of unit personnel by assisting with the recruitment of qualified staff, providing ongoing supervision and guidance, and participating in staff performance evaluations, including recommendations for development and personnel actions.

  1. Participates in the development of and holds staff accountable for hospital, nursing and unit policies, procedures, objectives, competencies, performance improvement initiatives as well as safety, environmental and infection control standards.

  1. Assists in maintaining departmental records and reports, and supports the collection of statistical data for administrative and regulatory requirements.

  1. Maintains a knowledge base in the specific clinical area and promotes professional staff development.

  1. Assists in the development of the unit’s operating and capital budgets and supports maintaining budget performance and productivity within appropriate parameters.

Marginal Functions (list in order of importance)

  • Performs both essential and marginal job functions in a safe manner as identified by Saint Anthony Hospital and the respective department while adhering to the Hospital’s confidentiality norms and standards. Actively and consistently demonstrates the core values of Saint Anthony Hospital in all interactions with others.

  • Attends administrative meetings and actively participates on hospital and nursing committees.

  • Coordinates and chars unit staff meetings.

  • Performs other duties as assigned after demonstrating required competencies or completing requisite training.

General Job Requirements (List any required knowledge, skills, experiences or training, including length of time necessary for proficiency, required to perform the job.)

  • BS in nursing or MS preferred.

  • Charge nurse experience with previous managerial experience preferred.

  • Two or more years clinical experience or equivalent.

  • Able to mentor staff in performance of their job roles.

  • Good conflict management and communication skills.
