About the Position:
As a Staff Accountant on our Client Accounting & Advisory Services team, you will support client relationships and contribute to the success of our clients by assisting with their day-to-day accounting functions. You will be responsible for performing transactional and general ledger accounting tasks, preparing financial reports, and helping ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards.
You will work with a variety of clients across multiple industries, including manufacturing, services, construction, real estate, not-for-profit, and government. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build a strong accounting foundation, gain exposure to diverse clients, and grow your career through hands-on experience and mentorship from senior team members.
This position is based in our White Bear Lake or Saint Paul office, with the option to work hybrid or remote after six months. Candidates must reside in the greater St. Paul/Minneapolis area.
Responsibilities:
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial records
Prepare financial statements and management reports under the guidance of senior accountants
Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances
Complete bank and credit card reconciliations
Support transactional accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entries
Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with internal controls and accounting standards
Communicate with clients to gather information and respond to routine accounting questions
Assist with documentation and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
Collaborate with team members to support multiple client engagements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
1–3 years of accounting experience, including general ledger and basic financial statement preparation (internships considered)
Working knowledge of GAAP and accounting fundamentals
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Preferred Skills:
Progress toward CPA designation
Experience with payroll processing and payroll tax filings
Exposure to sales tax reporting
Familiarity with construction, government, or not-for-profit accounting
