SUMMARY:
The Certified Nursing Assistant, Sr. is responsible for providing basic patient care under the direct supervision of the nurses responsible for resident care. Assists with tasks necessary for the general management and organization of the unit, being flexible in meeting resident and/or unit needs. The position is one of dual responsibilities as needed and include both resident care and administrative support of the unit. The CNA Sr. will be responsible for precepting and mentoring new CNAs and will assist in providing ongoing education and training to the CNA team in the facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Resident Care & Support – Provide personal care (bathing, feeding, mobility assistance), assist with daily tasks (laundry, tidiness, entertainment), encourage independence, and engage residents in meaningful interactions.
Clinical & Safety Responsibilities – Perform and assist with procedures (vital signs, specimen collection, dressing changes), follow infection control protocols, report safety hazards, and document care accurately in Care Tracker.
Team Mentorship & Collaboration – Mentor CNAs through guidance, training, and support; serve as a role model; communicate with nurse leaders; and participate in care conferences to enhance team performance and resident outcomes.
Unit & Compliance Support – Assist with secretarial duties, scheduling, DOH compliance checks, and special projects; float between units as needed; maintain certification through education; and promote a safe, professional, and collaborative work environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1 year of experience as a CNA
Minimum age requirement: 18 years
Currently certified in New York State as a Certified Nursing Assistant
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong communication skills and ability to supervise, support, and develop team members in a fast-paced care environment
Office experience, including administrative or secretarial duties
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $20.55 - $21.60
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
