About This Position
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position, and is not expected to be a permanent position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: .
Functioning independently, the Postdoctoral Researcher will design, organize, and conduct highly specialized and advanced experiments focused on super-resolution microscopy, with an emphasis on 3D-STORM imaging of nuclear organization. The researcher will integrate experimental and computational approaches, including the development and application of AI-based methods for analysis of high-density super-resolution datasets. The position involves both method development and biological discovery, with the goal of producing publishable, high-impact results.
In addition to microscopy-focused work, the Postdoctoral Researcher will engage broadly with genomics-driven questions of nuclear organization. This includes integrating super-resolution imaging with genomic, epigenomic, and chromatin conformation datasets, and developing general AI methodologies such as deep learning, representation learning, and cross-modal data integration frameworks. These approaches are intended to operate across imaging and genomics data types and to support unified, quantitative models of nuclear architecture.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in any field. Scientific research experience.
SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:
UTMB Health strives to provide equal opportunity employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, genetic information, disability, veteran status, or any other basis protected by institutional policy or by federal, state or local laws unless such distinction is required by law. As a Federal Contractor, UTMB Health takes affirmative action to hire and advance protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.

- Design and implement advanced super-resolution microscopy protocols, including 3D-STORM sample preparation, imaging, and calibration; adapt and develop new procedures, methods, and instrumentation as needed.
- Develop and apply AI- and machine-learning-based approaches for localization microscopy analysis, reconstruction, segmentation, and quantitative characterization of three-dimensional nuclear architecture.
- Collect, curate, and analyze large-scale microscopy datasets; maintain detailed experimental and computational records; manage structured databases of imaging data and analysis outputs.
- Generate figures, statistical analyses, and visualizations for internal presentations, conferences, and manuscript preparation.
- Work closely with other members of the laboratory to integrate imaging data with complementary genomic and biophysical assays related to nuclear organization.
- Provide guidance and supervision to junior researchers, students, and technicians in microscopy, data analysis, and best laboratory practices.
- Search and synthesize relevant scientific literature in super-resolution microscopy, nuclear architecture, and computational image analysis.
- Assist with ordering, maintenance, and optimization of microscopy equipment, computational resources, and laboratory supplies.
