Position_Description :
Job Overview
- The Construction Technologist acts as the vital bridge between construction operations and technology, leveraging software, innovative tools, and data to enhance efficiency, safety, quality and productivity on job sites. They provide technical support and services to estimating and construction throughout the life of a project.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage, set up, and operate Trimble and Topcon GPS surveying equipment and machine control units.
- Convert 2D plans into 3D models and maintain models as construction progresses.
- Calibrate equipment, troubleshoot, and support heavy equipment operators, and project management.
- Perform field layout for site grading, utilities, and structural components.
- Verify data accuracy, establish control points, and ensure compliance with tolerances.
- Provide support to the Estimating Team through quantity take-offs and other data.
- Provide training to field staff on the use of GPS equipment.
- Help collect, track, and prepare as-built data and drawings.
- Perform regular maintenance on equipment.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Work Environment
- A combination of the traditional office workspace and construction sites. Construction work is conducted outdoors on rough terrain. There is constant exposure to various weather conditions typical in the states where the work is performed, including noise, dust, and other materials. The work environment is in areas where heavy equipment, power tools and traffic are present. There is exposure to heights up to 50+ feet and depths of up to 80+ feet in this construction work environment.
Physical Demands
- The physical demands described below are representative of but not limited to the physical exertion generally required to perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time while using a keyboard. They are frequently required to stand and walk. They are occasionally required to lift, carry, push, pull, and reach overhead materials up to 20 pounds, along with frequent gross manipulation using their hands. The visual requirements include demonstrating or having vision corrected to 20/20. In general, this position includes sedentary work that primarily involves sitting and/or standing as well as repeating motions that include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Position Requirements :
Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Associates degree or bachelor’s degree in construction technology, surveying, civil engineering, construction management or another relevant field or the equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
- Proficiency with AgTek, AutoCAD, and/or Trimble Business Center (TBC). TBC experience preferred.
- Knowledge of construction surveying, grading, and earthwork.
- Ability to read and interpret construction, civil and structural plans.
- Strong analytical skills related to data interpretation and troubleshooting.
- Well organized including ability to maintain an organized file system.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Drone capabilities preferred.
