Job Description

Engineering Manager, Accounting & Reconciliation

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Engineering Manager, Accounting & Reconciliation in United States.

This role sits at the core of financial truth for a fast-scaling fintech platform, leading the development of systems that ensure every transaction is accurate, traceable, and auditable end-to-end. You will guide a high-impact engineering team building a next-generation internal ledger and reconciliation platform from the ground up. Operating at the intersection of distributed systems and real-world financial operations, you’ll define how money movement is represented in software. The environment is highly collaborative, working closely with Accounting, Finance, Product, and Data teams. This is a foundational role where clarity, correctness, and system durability are critical. You’ll help shape architecture decisions that will support current and future financial products at scale.

Accountabilities

In this role, you will lead the design, development, and evolution of core financial infrastructure systems that ensure transactional accuracy and audit readiness across the business:

  • Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team responsible for building ledger systems and reconciliation pipelines from the ground up
  • Define system architecture focused on correctness, idempotency, auditability, and long-term reliability
  • Design and evolve double-entry ledger models, transaction lifecycles, and reconciliation frameworks across multiple products
  • Build and maintain systems that reconcile internal financial records with external partners such as banks and payment processors
  • Partner closely with Accounting, Finance, Product, and Data teams to translate financial rules into scalable technical systems
  • Establish engineering standards for data integrity, observability, system recovery, and operational resilience
  • Drive execution on a greenfield platform initiative that replaces legacy external systems with a proprietary financial source of truth
Requirements

This position requires strong technical leadership experience in complex, high-integrity systems, ideally within financial or regulated environments:

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience with 1.5+ years in engineering management roles
  • Experience in domains where correctness is critical (e.g., fintech, banking, payments, lending, or financial infrastructure)
  • Strong understanding of transactional systems, data integrity, consistency models, and distributed systems challenges
  • Experience designing systems with strict requirements for auditability, traceability, and reliability
  • Ability to partner with Accounting and Finance stakeholders and translate domain requirements into technical solutions
  • Proven track record of building and scaling engineering teams in complex environments
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity and align cross-functional teams
  • Bonus: experience with ledger systems, double-entry accounting, reconciliation platforms, or financial reporting systems
  • Bonus: familiarity with TypeScript (Node.js), MySQL, GCP, and/or Python
Benefits
  • Remote-first work environment (U.S.-based), with flexible hours
  • Competitive compensation package with 401(k) matching
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Generous paid parental and caregiver leave
  • Flexible PTO and company holidays, including extended breaks
  • Home office stipend and virtual-first work support
  • Financial wellness resources and access to financial advisors
  • Company-wide in-person and virtual team events
  • Opportunity to build foundational financial infrastructure at scale
