OverviewFountain Comfort Group is a premier, multi-state residential HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical services platform with a rapidly expanding footprint of local service centers. As we continue to scale through both organic market penetration and strategic acquisitions, we are seeking a seasoned Corporate Controller. This individual will be a key member of the leadership team at Fountain Comfort Group, responsible for professionalizing our financial operations and building a team structure capable of supporting a high-volume, multi-site enterprise.
Position SummaryReporting directly to the CFO, the Corporate Controller will lead a distributed accounting function across the Fountain Comfort Group network. The ideal candidate is an expert in multi-site operational accounting, capable of managing the unique complexities of localized P&Ls while maintaining a unified corporate reporting standard. A heavy emphasis is placed on team development, process institutionalization, and audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities1. Team Leadership & Organizational Structure- Scalable Design: Design and lead a scalable accounting organizational structure for Fountain Comfort Group, including the recruitment, mentoring, and management of regional accounting staff.
- KPI Management: Establish clear KPIs and performance standards for the accounting team to ensure high-quality support for local General Managers.
- Culture Building: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, providing professional development opportunities for a multi-layered accounting department.
- Performance Oversight: Oversee financial performance reporting across multiple business units, ensuring consistency in revenue recognition and expense allocation.
- Regional Partnership: Partner with regional leadership to analyze local P&L performance, job costing accuracy, and field labor efficiency metrics.
- Standardization: Standardize financial workflows across all Fountain Comfort Group locations to ensure seamless data consolidation and comparative performance analysis.
- M&A Integration: Direct the integration of new sites into the Fountain Comfort Group financial ecosystem, ensuring minimal disruption to local operations.
- Audit Ownership: Full ownership of the annual external audit process, acting as the primary liaison with auditors.
- Compliance: Ensure all financial records adhere to GAAP; draft and maintain a comprehensive Corporate Accounting Policy Manual for Fountain Comfort Group.
- Treasury Management: Direct all corporate treasury functions, including the implementation of automated "hub-and-spoke" cash concentration accounts, the management of rolling 13-week liquidity forecasts, and the optimization of the cash conversion cycle.
- Reporting & Controls:
- Collaborate with the team to build flash reports and operational scorecards.
- Implement and monitor high-standard internal controls focused on asset protection and data integrity.
- Conduct periodic site visits to local branches to ensure that field administrative staff are following Fountain Comfort Group financial policies.
- Assist with preparation of board reporting materials.
Requirement
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is highly preferred.
Experience
8+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience; 3+ years managing accounting for a multi-site organization (e.g., home services, construction, or distributed healthcare).
Team Management
Proven track record of building and managing accounting teams across multiple locations.
Audit Mastery
Extensive experience leading full-scope external audits.
Systems
High proficiency in enterprise-level ERPs and Field Service Management (FSM) platforms.
Communication
Ability to translate complex financial data for non-financial regional managers.
