The Role:
We are launching an in-house kitchen to provide fresh, high-quality meals for our manufacturing and engineering workforce. We are seeking a hands-on Head Chef to lead and build this program from the ground up. This role is responsible for all kitchen operations, including menu development, food quality, staffing, cost control, and compliance. The Chef will initially operate with a small team (or independently) and help scale the kitchen over time.
What You’ll Do:
• Lead daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and quality
• Develop a rotating menu that is hearty, nutritious, and suitable for a fast-paced workforce
• Hire, train, and manage kitchen staff as the program grows
• Maintain food quality standards and ensure all meals meet expectations before service
• Manage inventory, ordering, and food/labor costs
• Source and manage vendor relationships
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and local health codes
• Maintain kitchen equipment and coordinate repairs as needed
• Support internal events and company catering needs, including planning, preparation, and execution
• Always represents the company in a professional manner
What It Takes:
• Experience as a Kitchen Manager or Lead Chef
• Background in high-volume or institutional food service preferred
• Strong leadership, organizational, and cost management skills
• Extensive knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance
• Ability to be hands-on in a growing, build-from-scratch operation
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both leadership and frontline employees
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet production deadlines, and take initiative in problem-solving
• Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude and commitment to safety (including required PPE)
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace
