Job Description
The schedule for this role varies. However, associates must be available to work Sunday through Friday with a 4pm start until shipping operations is complete.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Warehouse Associate is responsible for the day-to-day tasks related to inbound and outbound operations, including receiving, order selecting, unloading, loading, put-aways, replenishments, and sanitation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Reliable, consistent, attendance is a requirement. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance to meet the needs of the business, including attending and taking part in meetings and presentations.
- Follows all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensures warehouse procedures, guidelines, and policies are met.
- Complies with food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Efficiently operates computer systems with minimal direction.
- Ensures product is received, unloaded, loaded, and stored securely packed and accurately labeled.
- Meets the minimum department productivity expectations.
- Identifies overages and missing or damaged products.
- Fulfills order selections and completes put-aways and replenishments.
- Inspects incoming products, labels them, and prepares them for shipping or storage.
- Assists in reconciliating and maintaining an accurate inventory by accurately selecting orders and not damaging product. .
- Communicates efficiently with management and teammates.
- Assists with training new employees.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma from an accredited school or general education development (GED) certificate.
- 6+ months of relevant experience
- Forklift experience
- Experience in food warehousing, retail, or food distribution preferred
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Must complete HFB Powered Industrial Truck (Forklift) training and certification within 30 days of hire date

- Ability to operate all types of warehouse machinery, stand-up and sit-down forklifts, long and short pallet jacks, manual jacks, computers, copiers, and other business equipment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee must regularly move about the office and around the facility, use hands, wrists, and fingers to type, write, bend, kneel, squat, use hands and fingers to handle, grip, squeeze, and/or feel; push, pull, and reach with hands and arms; and position themselves to retrieve product. The employee must frequently lift 50 pounds. The employee will need to have the average ability to hear horns, warnings, and alerts associated with a warehouse.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While the job is generally performed in a warehouse environment, the employee is frequently exposed to different temperature-controlled environments including the cooler and freezer, wet and/or humid conditions, strong food-related smells, and outside weather conditions. The employee will be exposed to loud noise levels (e.g., horns, fans).
TRAVEL REQUIRED:
No travel is required for this role.
This role supports hours of operations at the Houston Food Bank facilities, as necessary, and may require flexibility (e.g., times of disaster, community events, company events).
