About the role

The Senior NVH Application Engineer will work directly with other Sales staff and with external customers in supporting the development and testing of WAM commercial and/or developmental materials for use in vehicle brake noise control, with the objective of having them released for production.

This position is located on-site in Dearborn Michigan.

What you'll do

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage end-to-end customer programs across Original Equipment (OE) and Aftermarket (AM) applications to support and ensure production release of WAM shim materials.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to procure appropriate test specimens and tooling fixtures.
  • Engage the WAM Materials Laboratory and qualified external testing facilities to support validation activities as required.
  • Participate in vehicle field testing, perform detailed data analysis, and prepare comprehensive technical reports.
  • Manage brake NVH dynamometer testing schedules in collaboration with Dynamometer Technicians and Sales Account Managers to maximize equipment utilization and testing efficiency.
  • Partner directly with both existing and prospective customers to support the application of WAM materials, serving as the primary technical subject matter expert for shim solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal stakeholders and external customers, as needed.
  • Travel to customer locations, vendors, and technical conferences to support Sales initiatives and remain current through participation in technical literature reviews.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Development of lab samples on an as needed basis.
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed (Manufacturing, Quality, etc).
  • Perform other duties assigned based on business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a physical science or engineering discipline, preferably Materials Science & Engineering, Physics, NVH, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 9 years of hands-on experience in brake NVH engineering.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with vendors, customers, and cross-functional internal teams, including Materials and Product Development, Production, Sales & Marketing, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
  • Experience participating in and contributing to technical meetings at customer locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a laboratory environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work across multiple company facilities and manufacturing plants as needed.
  • Ability to travel as required to support testing programs and to assist Materials and Product.
  • Development and Sales & Marketing teams in ongoing customer engagement nationwide.
  • Commitment to continuous learning through participation in professional development courses, relevant technical training, and selected industry conferences.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain in a standing or seated position for extended periods (approximately 4–8 hours, depending on operational needs).
  • Ability to walk between workstations, storage areas, and equipment rooms as required.
  • Ability to bend, reach, crouch, stoop, and climb.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
