This position will require interaction with individuals of all levels at Cumming Corporation and its subsidiaries, clients, vendors, outside counsel, and insurance companies. This role will be based in our Westport, CT office.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with the implementation and continuing development of the Company’s risk management program.
- Review all contracts and agreements entered into by Company for purpose of identifying risks and formulating mitigation or avoidance strategies.
- Educate Team members regarding nature of risks and assist in negotiation of contracts and agreements with clients.
- Assist with implementation of contract and subconsultant management program.
- Assist with handling of labor and employment matters.
- Coordinate with insurers to ensure appropriate insurance coverages and the Company’s compliance therewith.
- Assist with pre-acquisition due diligence and post-acquisition integration and merger activities.
- Assist with managing claims, subpoena responses, and litigation.
- Assist with corporate compliance matters including anti-bribery, data privacy, government relations, licensing, political contributions, data privacy, and other regulatory matters.
- Assist with handling general corporate legal matters for domestic and foreign operations.
- Keep updated with legal developments which affect Company’s operations.
- Assist Team members with resolution of issues and disputes arising during contract performance.
- Assist with review and negotiation of commercial leases.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Attendance at work during normal business hours.
Knowledge & Skills Required:
- Licensed in Connecticut or in a jurisdiction capable of waiving into Connecticut Bar.
- General construction experience - in-house or law firm is required.
- Experience with drafting and negotiation of various professional consulting and construction documents.
- Experience with identification and management of risks related to the construction industry.
- Experience with project management, construction management, cost management, consultant, and confidentiality agreements.
- Experience with insurance coverages in the construction industry including professional liability, commercial general liability, auto, builders’ risk, and cyber liability.
- Experience with general corporate matters including corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with labor and employment matters.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid legal research skills.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Education: Juris Doctorate degree is required.
Experience: 6-8 years of qualified as an attorney. Preferred experience: familiarity with contract and document management software, in-house corporate experience, merger and acquisition experience, litigation experience, labor and employment experience.

The salary range for this full-time role is $159,400.00-$223,133.37 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package.
