Join Our Team as a Business Development Team Manager!
Are you ready to build and lead a high-performing pipeline generation team in the insurance industry? We’re looking for a Business Development Team Manager to lead our Business Development Representatives as a shared-services team supporting both Independent Agents and Strategic Partnerships. This role is critical to creating a repeatable prospecting engine, improving top-of-funnel performance, and scaling the team to capture more market opportunity through focused coaching, disciplined execution, and strong cross-functional alignment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Team Leadership and Coaching: Lead, coach, and develop the Business Development Representative team through structured one-on-ones, call reviews, performance management, and ongoing skills development.
- Shared Services Management: Oversee the BDR team as a shared-services function supporting both Independent Agents and Strategic Partnerships, ensuring priorities, capacity, and service expectations are aligned across channels.
- Pipeline Generation: Drive team performance against key top-of-funnel goals, including outreach activity, appointments, qualified opportunities, pipeline creation, and conversion outcomes.
- Performance Management: Establish clear expectations and accountability around daily activity, quality standards, responsiveness, and results; identify performance gaps and implement improvement plans as needed.
- Hiring and Team Scaling: Partner in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and ramping new BDRs as the team grows to meet business demand.
- Messaging and Process Optimization: Refine outreach strategies, call frameworks, email messaging, and prospecting workflows to improve contact, appointment-setting, and qualification effectiveness.
- Reporting and Analytics: Track and analyze key team metrics, provide leadership visibility into performance, and use insights to optimize execution and resource allocation.
- Sales Alignment: Partner closely with Territory Managers, Strategic Partnerships leaders, Sales leadership, and Marketing to improve targeting, handoffs, feedback loops, and opportunity quality.
- Systems and CRM Discipline: Ensure accurate CRM usage, activity tracking, reporting hygiene, and follow-up discipline across the team.
- Culture Building: Foster a high-energy, accountable, and team-oriented culture that supports performance, learning, and career development.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in business development, inside sales, sales development, or related sales roles, including prior people leadership or strong coaching experience.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Insurance industry experience is preferred, particularly in agency distribution, strategic partnerships, or channel sales environments.
- Coaching and Development: Proven ability to coach prospecting behaviors, objection handling, messaging, and qualification skills.
- Results-Oriented: Driven by performance, accountability, and measurable outcomes.
- Proactive and Self-Motivated: Takes initiative, anticipates needs, and pushes the team toward solutions and execution.

The office environment is fast-paced and collaborative. An employee must be willing and able to work their regularly assigned work schedule onsite, and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on company or departmental needs, project requirements, or customer demands.
While performing general duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, comprehending, and reading; being able to lift light objects (<25 lbs); and using standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones. In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist, or squat down to open/close cabinets and reach for files or other standard office-type objects.
