Job Description
Material Coordinator – Lathe
Reporting To
CNC Lathe Supervisor

$21 – $29 per hour (DOE)
Role Objective
We are seeking a reliable Material Coordinator – Lathe to support the Lathe department by managing the flow of raw material, work-in-process (WIP), and job kits in and out of the lathe cell. This role keeps the machines running by ensuring the right material, tooling, and paperwork are at the right machine at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
· Pull and stage raw bar stock, billets, and material kits for lathe jobs based on production schedule.
· Prepare and deliver job kits to lathe operators including drawings, routers, setup sheets, and tooling.
· Move work-in-process parts between lathe operations, inspection, and downstream departments.
· Maintain accurate real-time visibility of material status and location in the lathe area.
· Update ERP/MRP system with material moves, issues, and operation completions.
· Coordinate with Purchasing and the Material Control team to flag material shortages before they impact production.
· Support the Lathe Supervisor in production scheduling by tracking material availability and job readiness.
· Maintain cleanliness, organization, and 5S standards in the lathe area and staging zones.
· Assist with cycle counts, audits, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
· Follow all AS9100 requirements for material identification, segregation, and traceability.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED.
· 2+ years of material handling, inventory control, or production coordination experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, NetSuite, or similar).
· Basic understanding of machining operations, raw material types, and cut-to-length requirements.
· Ability to read and follow written work instructions, routers, and drawings.
· Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel and email.
· Strong organizational and communication skills.
· Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Additional Information
Preferred Skills
· Prior experience supporting CNC lathe or machining operations.
· Prior experience in AS9100 or ISO 9001 certified environments.
· Forklift and/or pallet jack certification.
· Familiarity with bar feeders, bar pullers, and bar stock handling.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
· Ability to stand for long periods and move between different workstations.
· Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods.
· Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, heat, and other manufacturing conditions.
