Successful candidate is responsible for the activities in the Machine Shop, consisting of a variety of tasks that facilitate the manufacture and assembly of parts.

Location: On-site at GSFC Greenbelt, MD

Job Requirements:

  • Looking for a minimum of 10 yrs of experience.
  • Crane certified, Forklift certified or able to become certified.
  • Coordinate and execute the removal or, or moving of heavy equipment and machining centers.
  • Provide shipping, receiving, and inventory control of the B5 Truck Lock in conformance with work instructions for Receipt, Verification, Testing and Storage of Raw Materials.
  • Can follow work instructions. Rough Cut metal to size to facilitate part fabrication. Provide material handling, cutting, certification and restocking support for all shop operations in accordance with work instructions.
  • Maintain stock and control storage of all tools in the tool cribs.
  • Inspect cutting tools to determine which tools require rework or sharpening, and preparation of cutting tools for shipment to a tool grinding facility for routine sharpening as necessary.
  • Issue items from the Tool Crib in good working order and document all returned items to determine their condition.
  • Maintain accurate records of the location of all tools issued, including the name and location of the person last issued the item.
  • Maintain inventory control of consumable supplies and materials.
  • Assist with lifting and safety preparations for operations in the Integration & Test complex as requested.
  • Support process improvements, report anomalies, issues failures related to tools and equipment.
  • Uses hand tools to assemble parts when necessary.
  • Exercises shop safety and standard shop safety processes such as lock out/ tag out of high voltage systems, use of eye protection, wearing of steel toed shoes, and can recognize an unsafe condition.

Job Preference:

  • Knowledge of and experience using part tracking software such as Acumatica, Katana, JobBoss or Epicor is desired.
