This role is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing end-to-end global transportation operations across domestic and international freight channels. The Director will develop and execute transportation strategy, optimize carrier performance, and ensure compliance with regulatory and medical device standards. This position balances strategic planning with hands-on operational management, including freight cost optimization, performance analytics, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires strong cross-functional collaboration with supply chain, manufacturing, and customer service teams. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in global logistics, transportation systems, and carrier management, and thrives in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. Accountabilities:
  • Lead and manage all domestic and international transportation operations, including ocean, parcel, truckload/LTL, drayage, and multimodal logistics
  • Develop and implement global transportation strategies aligned with business growth and service objectives
  • Oversee carrier relationships, including scorecards, performance reviews, and RFP execution for freight providers and 3PL partners
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, medical device standards, and global trade regulations
  • Drive operational excellence in shipment booking, tracking, routing, exception management, and process standardization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support S&OP, new product introductions, market expansions, and customer-focused logistics programs
  • Analyze transportation performance, cost drivers, and network efficiency to identify opportunities for optimization and continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in transportation, logistics, or global supply chain management
  • Proven success managing global freight operations, carrier networks, and multimodal logistics
  • Experience in regulated industries, preferably medical devices, pharma, or healthcare manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of global freight management, Incoterms, customs processes, and international trade compliance
  • Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), data analytics, KPIs, and scorecard governance
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Strategic thinker with operational execution capability, cost optimization expertise, and results-driven mindset
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%, including occasional international travel
