Summary of position-
The Lead Travel Mechanic provides on-aircraft maintenance support for Elevate Aviation Group's (EAG) private charter fleet. This position travels with the aircraft and is embedded in the operation, serving as the lead maintenance resource and primary technical authority for the flight crew throughout the duration of each trip. The Lead Travel Mechanic works in direct coordination with the Pilot in Command (PIC) and flight crew and, at the direction of the PIC, may assist with ground support activities consistent with EAG's service standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance
- Perform all required maintenance in accordance with applicable CFRs, EAG GMM, aircraft manufacturer manuals (AMM), and OpSpecs.
- Execute MEL procedures correctly; complete deferred maintenance log entries and required corrective actions per MEL requirements.
- Utilize EAG's maintenance tracking system to plan, create, and close work orders and defects; print task cards and complete cover sheets.
- Identify and properly mark RII (Required Inspection Items) on non-routine discrepancies and scheduled inspection items.
- Verify that all parts removed from stock are acceptable for installation; reject any part not meeting AMM or EAG certification requirements.
- Confirm shelf-life validity of all materials prior to use.
- Run engines at low and high power and taxi the aircraft following qualification training.
- Notify the RII Inspector prior to area closure to prevent unscheduled reopening for re-inspection.
- Utilize the most current fleet manuals for all troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Ensure all personal and shop tools are calibrated and current prior to use; manage calibration proactively when traveling to prevent lapses during trips.
- Perform receiving inspections on incoming parts and materials when operating away from main base.
Documentation & Accountability
- Properly sign, record, and assume responsibility for all work performed, including work co-signed on behalf of non-certificated assisting personnel.
- Maintain detailed and accurate maintenance records consistent with EAG standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide complete work progression reports to relief personnel.
Trip & Ground Support
- Serve as the on-site maintenance representative for the duration of each assigned trip.
- Coordinate directly with the Pilot in Command and flight crew on all maintenance-related matters affecting aircraft airworthiness and dispatch.
- At the direction of the PIC or flight crew, assist with passenger ground support activities including, but not limited to, baggage handling, aircraft preparation, and cabin readiness.
- Identify and report any unsafe or hazardous conditions to the Director of Maintenance or designee.
General
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times; represent EAG to the standard expected of a premium charter aviation provider.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area throughout all maintenance activities.
- Stay current on manual updates, policy changes, and regulatory requirements; review read files upon reporting for duty.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance or designee consistent with the needs of the operation.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities-
Required
- Current FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) rating.
- Meets experience requirements of 14 CFR § 65.83.
- Experience on Boeing airplanes.
- Working knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 1, 5, 21, 25, 39, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, 119, 120, and 121.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and aviation maintenance tracking systems.
- Ability to run engines and taxi aircraft after receiving EAG qualification training.
- Strong organizational skills, independent decision-making ability, and clear communication, particularly in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including nights, weekends, and irregular schedules.
Preferred
- Prior experience in Part 135 or private charter operations.
- Experience with 757 is preferred
- Familiarity with EAG's fleet type(s).
- Experience operating as an on-trip or line maintenance representative.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; perform maintenance tasks in confined spaces, varied weather conditions, and at remote airports with limited ground support resources. Ability to maintain physical readiness consistent with the demands of extended travel.
Schedule & Travel-
- Schedule- will be determined by the needs of the aircraft. Nights, weekends and holidays may be required based on the operational needs of the organization.
- Travel- required up to 75%
