Summary Objective
This role supports automated welding operations through expert programming, operation, and maintenance of the PEMA Gantry Robotic Welding Cell. The Robot Technician ensures high‑quality weld output, optimized robotic performance, and reliable production through strong GMAW knowledge, robotic programming skill, and CAD/offline programming capabilities.
Essential Functions
- Program robotic welding systems using teach pendant and offline software.
- Set up, calibrate, and optimize PEMA (and other systems) gantry axis movements and weld paths.
- Apply proper GMAW welding techniques and adjust parameters for material and joint conditions.
- Troubleshoot robotic, mechanical, and welding‑related issues.
- Monitor weld quality and perform real‑time corrections.
- Collaborate with welding, production, and engineering teams to optimize throughput.
- Interpret welding blueprints, symbols, CAD models, and tolerances.
- Maintain clean, safe workspaces in compliance with safety protocols.
- Document programs, maintenance actions, and weld settings.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Location
This position will work out of our Imeson facility in Jacksonville, FL. This position is not approved for telecommuting or working remotely.
Work Environment
This job operates in a manufacturing/office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position will regularly be out on the manufacturing floor.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position may require occasional weekend work.
Travel
Some occasional local day travel may also be necessary.
Required Education and Experience.
- 3+ years of experience programming robotic welding systems (FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa, or similar).
- Strong understanding of GMAW welding techniques.
- Experience setting up and maintaining robotic weld cells.
- Proficiency with CAD or offline robotic programming tools.
- Ability to interpret weld blueprints and mechanical drawings.
Preferred Education and Experience
- AWS Robotic Arc Welder certification (CRAW).
- Experience with PEMA gantry systems or large‑format robotic cells.
- Experience with FANUC or Yaskawa platforms.
- Background in collaborative robot (cobot) programming.
