Position Summary
Resident Services Specialists play a critical role in fostering a safe, supportive, and dignified living environment within the Tukwila permanent supportive housing (PSH) program. Working under the direction of the Lead Resident Coordinator, Resident Services Specialists support residents in their daily activities, uphold community standards, and ensure a welcoming and trauma-informed atmosphere. This role involves direct interaction with residents, providing encouragement, stability, and connections to supportive services to help them maintain housing stability and thrive.

Schedule

Saturday, Sunday, Monday, every other Tuesday (10 hour shifts, 35 hours a week on average),

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations and Resident Engagement

  • Support daily operations of the PSH community, ensuring a clean, safe, and respectful environment.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with residents, fostering trust and mutual respect.
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, including meal preparation, housekeeping, and adherence to community agreements.
  • Respond to resident concerns, questions, and emergencies with compassion and professionalism.
  • Model and reinforce a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to engagement and conflict resolution.
  • Maintain accurate records, including incident reports and resident logs, in compliance with program requirements.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with other Resident Services Specialists and program staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Share observations, resident updates, and concerns with the Lead Resident Coordinator and case management team to support resident success.
  • Participate in regular team meetings to enhance program effectiveness and share insights.

Safety and Community Standards

  • Promote a safe and welcoming environment by upholding community agreements and program guidelines.
  • Assist with building security and conduct regular checks to maintain safety for all residents and staff.
  • Utilize de-escalation skills and provide crisis intervention support as needed.

Program Support and Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of program policies and procedures that promote resident wellbeing and staff safety.
  • Assist with data collection efforts for program evaluation and reporting.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to PSH work.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required, additional education or training in social services, human services, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a residential or supportive housing setting preferred.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with residents while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to work in a team-based environment.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care principles and a commitment to treating all individuals with dignity and respect.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations with patience, empathy, and de-escalation skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.
