ROLE OVERVIEWThe Strategic Projects and Community Engagement Manager supports Pershing General Hospital and Nursing Home by independently coordinating grant communications and grant-funded projects; monitoring timelines, deliverables, and compliance requirements; and supporting departments in the planning and execution of other approved initiatives. The role performs non-manual, professional work directly related to the hospital’s administrative, operational, and strategic functions.This position serves as a key liaison for community outreach and stakeholder engagement, exercising judgment and discretion in building and maintaining relationships with community members, schools, workforce partners, industry, and local, state, and federal entities. The role may take primary responsibility for assigned projects and initiatives, including determining appropriate coordination strategies, identifying risks or barriers, and advising leadership on progress and needs, as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or his/her designee.The position emphasizes independent coordination, collaboration, follow-through, and clear communication. Working with minimal day-to-day supervision, the Strategic Projects and Community Engagement Manager supports successful project implementation, compliance with grant and program requirements, and positive community impact. The role provides leadership with visibility into project status and deliverables and supports organizational accountability by monitoring progress, elevating issues, and recommending corrective actions as appropriate.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Coordinates assigned grant-funded projects from award through completion, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and reporting requirements are met by interpreting grant requirements and determining compliance risks.

2. Serves as a central point of contact for grant documentation, tracking milestones, and supporting required state and federal submissions.

3. Determines appropriate coordination methods and assists departments in organizing and completing projects and grant-related tasks, documentation, and performance measures.

4. Supports preparation and submission of grant reports, narratives, progress updates, and data as required.

5. Works with administration and fiscal staff to monitor grant budgets and allowable uses of funds.

6. Maintains organized grant files and records in accordance with audit and compliance requirements.

7. Supports departments in implementing approved projects by helping track tasks, deadlines, and responsibilities.

8. Facilitates interdepartmental communication to support coordination and timely completion of project activities.

9. Identifies potential barriers or risks to project timelines and elevates concerns to leadership for guidance.

10. Prepares project updates, summaries, and dashboards for leadership and governing bodies as requested.

11. Acts as a liaison between the hospital, vendors, partners, and external entities related to assigned projects.

12. Assists with scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting action items and outcomes.

13. Supports community outreach efforts related to hospital programs, services, and grant-funded initiatives.

14. Builds and maintains relationships with community partners such as schools, employers, workforce organizations, government agencies, and nonprofits.

15. Identifies opportunities and participates in community meetings, workgroups, and events to strengthen partnerships and visibility.

16. Assists in coordinating educational sessions, public meetings, or engagement activities related to hospital initiatives and involves leadership in outreach opportunities.

17. Represents the organization in a professional manner that reinforces trust, collaboration, and community reputation.

18. Participates in and may coordinate employee, patient, and resident engagement initiatives that support internal community building, organizational culture, and staff connection across departments.


Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

· A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in project coordination, administrative or office coordination, team support, professional community engagement programs, public administration, or a closely related experience required.

· Demonstrated multi-year experience with evidence of measurable impact supporting or working with grant-funded programs, public agencies, school systems, nonprofit organizations, or community-based initiatives is strongly preferred.

· Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills, as typically acquired through sustained experience engaging community partners, public agencies, and internal leaders in cooperative planning, coordination, and problem-solving efforts.

· Formal education in business, public administration, healthcare administration, communications, or a related field may substitute for up to two (2) years of required experience; however, experience performing comparable duties and exercising independent judgment is the primary qualification.

Technical Skills:

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear reports, summaries, correspondence, and community outreach materials.

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to track and coordinate multiple projects, deadlines, and deliverables simultaneously.

· High attention to detail and the ability to support compliance with grant, regulatory, and reporting requirements.

· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners and stakeholders.

· Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including comfort engaging with community members, partners, and public agencies.

· Proven ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and follow through on commitments.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn additional systems as needed.

· Ability to explain project goals, timelines, responsibilities, and expectations in clear, non-technical terms.

· Ability to help prioritize tasks, coordinate responsibilities, and support others in meeting project objectives.

· Ability to quickly learn new programs, projects, or service lines and synthesize information into clear action steps and work plans.

· Ability to support and facilitate staff and community education, orientation, or informational sessions related to projects or initiatives.
