This role is a highly technical, field-based leadership position focused on the installation, commissioning, and onsite support of large-scale power transformers up to 850 MVA / 500 kV. You will operate in complex industrial environments where precision, safety, and quality are critical to successful project delivery. The position combines hands-on technical expertise with supervisory responsibility, guiding subcontractors and coordinating multidisciplinary field teams. You will act as the key technical representative during customer engagements, ensuring alignment between engineering standards and field execution. Success in this role requires strong diagnostic capabilities, root cause analysis expertise, and the ability to resolve issues under dynamic site conditions. This is a high-impact opportunity for a field professional who thrives in travel-intensive, technically demanding environments and enjoys working directly on mission-critical power infrastructure.

Accountabilities

You will supervise and coordinate the full lifecycle of power transformer installation and commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards. You will lead onsite execution, including assembly of external components, electrical testing, troubleshooting, and pre-commissioning procedures.

  • Oversee onsite installation and commissioning of large power transformers (up to 850 MVA / 500 kV).
  • Lead technical oversight of assembly, wiring, and integration of external components and systems.
  • Perform and supervise electrical testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting during field operations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for equipment issues and deliver structured technical reports and recommendations.
  • Manage subcontractors on site, ensuring safety compliance, quality execution, and schedule adherence.
  • Act as primary technical liaison for customer engineers during installation and testing activities.
  • Prepare detailed field documentation including daily reports, incident logs, and commissioning records.
Requirements

You bring deep, hands-on expertise in power transformer field service, with strong technical knowledge of installation, testing, and commissioning processes. You are comfortable leading teams in high-voltage, safety-critical environments and have strong problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Extensive experience in installation and commissioning of power transformers (mandatory).
  • Strong background in electrical testing, troubleshooting, and external component wiring.
  • Knowledge of vacuum oil processing, oil handling procedures, and high-voltage safety protocols.
  • Proven experience supervising subcontractors and coordinating industrial field teams.
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, including root cause analysis of equipment issues.
  • Customer-focused communication style with ability to interact directly with technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel up to 80% domestically and internationally, with flexibility for remote work when not onsite.
  • Physical capability to work in outdoor/industrial environments, including heights and heavy equipment areas.
Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision healthcare coverage
  • Retirement savings plan (401k / IRA options)
  • Paid time off including vacation, sick leave, and public holidays
  • Exposure to large-scale, high-impact energy infrastructure projects
  • Hybrid flexibility with remote work when not traveling
