This role is a key leadership position within a high-growth technology environment, responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and scalable revenue recognition practices across complex, global operations. You will oversee end-to-end revenue accounting processes while driving operational excellence in financial reporting under ASC 606. The position combines technical accounting expertise with strategic process improvement, cross-functional collaboration, and team leadership. You will work closely with Sales, Legal, Deal Desk, and FP&A to ensure that revenue implications are correctly reflected across contracts, billing models, and financial systems. A strong focus is placed on building scalable systems, improving automation, and strengthening internal controls. This is a highly impactful role for a hands-on accounting leader who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and enjoys optimizing financial operations at scale.
- Lead the end-to-end revenue recognition process in compliance with ASC 606, ensuring accurate, timely, and audit-ready financial reporting.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including revenue reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, variance analysis, and AR/commission-related accounting.
- Design and optimize scalable order-to-cash and revenue accounting processes, improving accuracy, efficiency, and system automation where possible.
- Partner with technical revenue teams to interpret complex contracts and ensure proper revenue treatment within accounting systems such as NetSuite ARM.
- Collaborate with Deal Desk, Legal, and Sales teams during contract reviews to provide guidance on revenue recognition and billing impacts.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of revenue accountants, supporting performance management, training, and professional growth.
- Support external audits by preparing and maintaining complete, audit-ready documentation.
- Work closely with FP&A to align revenue data with forecasting, reporting, and variance analysis.
- Monitor and enhance internal controls related to revenue accounting to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Active CPA license required.
- 5+ years of experience in revenue accounting, preferably within SaaS or technology-driven environments.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition principles.
- Experience with ERP and CRM systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce, and Stripe is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage and develop accounting teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes, implement controls, and drive operational efficiency.
- Competitive base salary with a range typically between $28,350 and $173,650 depending on location, experience, and qualifications, plus additional compensation considerations.
