You will work closely with experienced DBAs to learn core operational practices such as monitoring, backups, incident handling, and system health checks. Support the database administration team in day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth functioning of SQL Server environments through monitoring, maintenance, and incident support activities.
- Assist in monitoring SQL Server instances to ensure availability, performance, and system health.
- Perform basic health checks and respond to alerts related to database operations.
- Support incident and service request handling using ticketing systems, ensuring SLA adherence.
- Conduct initial issue analysis and escalate complex problems to senior DBAs when required.
- Assist with backup and restore operations, patching, upgrades, and routine maintenance tasks.
- Support user access requests and ensure compliance with security policies and SOPs.
- Maintain operational documentation and update runbooks for database processes.
This role is suited for early-career professionals or fresh graduates with foundational SQL knowledge and a strong willingness to learn database administration in a production support environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 0–1 year of experience in IT support, database support, or similar roles; freshers with relevant training are encouraged.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL.
- Fundamental SQL knowledge including SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, joins, and filters.
- Basic awareness of database concepts such as tables, indexes, backups, restores, and performance basics.
- Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and basic Windows Server concepts.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow SOPs in a structured environment.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts and 24x7 on-call support.
