JOB SUMMARY
The role of the Information Technology Supervisor (Server & Storage) supervises and oversees daily operations of hardware, software, server, storage, and associated network devices installation, analysis, support, maintenance, and administration of related technologies that function as the backbone of the compute and storage environments on-premise and in the cloud under the purview of the server and storage team. Will function as an all-around expert providing support and cross-training where appropriate. Additionally, this position will review, recommend, and coordinate these environments' overall design and architecture, and implementation with internal and external resources. The Information Technology Supervisor (Server & Storage) will research new technologies, feedback, and best practices and participate in written proposals evaluation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- To carry out essential functions of this job, must have a valid Utah’s driver’s license with no more than four moving violations in the past three years; or, if a non-driver, must be able to travel efficiently by another means to and from varied locations within UTA’s service area. Lack of a driver’s license does not necessarily preclude employment. No applicant may have more than one violation of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs within the last ten years.
- Must be able to remain calm and work competently in a dynamic and occasionally high-pressure environment
- Must be willing to work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays, and to share in the on-call responsibilities as required to support a 24x7 network environment.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma / GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Engineering field of study or equivalent work experience.
- Any combination of training and education greater or equal to five hundred hours (500) hours from an accredited college or university with emphasis on an Information Technology or Engineering field of study.
EXPERIENCE:
- Four (4) years managing personnel in a supervisory role related to Information Technology
- Eight (8) years of direct experience administrating server and infrastructure systems.
- One (1) year experience training and mentoring junior staff members
*Qualifying experience must have been within the last ten (10) years.
KNOWLEDGE – Required:
- Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box);
- In-depth knowledge of core Microsoft technologies/implementations to include Active Directory Domain Services, Domain Name Services, and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy principles.
- Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.
- Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk).
- Knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
- Knowledge of the enterprise information technology (IT) architectural concepts and patterns (e.g., baseline, validated design, and target architectures.)
- Knowledge of network access, identity, and access management (e.g., public key infrastructure, OAuth, OpenID, SAML, SPML).
- Knowledge of network design processes, to include understanding of security objectives, operational objectives, and trade-offs.
- Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle.
- Experience deploying software and security updates, hotfixes, and patches.
- Experience managing On-premise Microsoft Exchange and Office 365/Exchange On-line environments.
- Experience managing Azure/Azure Active Directory.
KNOWLEDGE – Preferred:
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to cybersecurity and privacy.
- Knowledge of vendor or industry hardware and software quality and functional best practices.
- Ability to form and align goals and objectives to apply organizational technology practices.
- Ability to make recommendations and follow objectives related to policies or procedures either within the department or organizationally.
- Knowledge of Project Management procedures and techniques.
- Knowledge of Database management concepts.

Pay Rate: $100,800 or more depending on experience
