Metz Culinary Management is growing, and seeking a Rock Star Catering Sales and Event Coordinator. This is a great opportunity to show off your hospitality and attention to detail while building relationships with new and previous clients, coordinating the event logistics and contributing to the overall Catering Business Development.

Our catering events range from small casual business lunches to amazing and extravagant black tie events. Our event coordinator must be able to negotiate pricing, assist with menu selection and decor. Must be able to read, write, use simple math, follow and give oral and written instructions. Ability to work quickly and be efficient utilizing office equipment including PC, Microsoft Office Suite and be able to roll up sleeves and jump in where needed.

Job Description:

The role of the catering sales manager is to facilitate both the internal and external sales of catering inquiries submitted to the Hillsdale Dining (Metz Catering) department. The focus of this position is oversee the process of booking, detailing and billing of all events hosted at the college that have requested food and beverage services through the catering department. It is the expectation that this process is clearly communicated to the operations team in order to execute these events at a high level while also building meaningful relationships at the college and in the surrounding community.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Detailing events
• Managing and organizing incoming leads
• Facilitate BEO meetings with the culinary and operations teams weekly
• Hospitality management software proficiency (CaterTrax)
• Frequent communication with clients via email and phone
• Securing details from clients in a timely manner
• Professional and pleasant phone/email etiquette
• Managing changes and updates to events/programs
• Billing through proper cash handling and PCI procedures
• Managing the assistant sales manager and/or office assistant
• Assisting the culinary team in building menus for clients
• Working with the chef with any dietary needs of our guests
• Being on site to assist with events
• Managing of event order boards for all areas
• Ensuring the operations team has the most up to date information
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, composing emails, CaterTrax or B2B hospitality software

The direct report for this role will be the Catering Director, and will work out of the catering office. The employee will, typically, work a 8am – 6pm, Monday through Friday work week and report to work dressed in professional but casual business attire. Catering office hours are set at Monday through Friday, 9am -5pm.

Job performance evaluations will be held annually by the catering director, under the supervision of the General Manager to review the progress the duties outlined above.
