About the Role:
The AutoCAD Technician plays a critical role in the construction industry by creating detailed and precise technical drawings that serve as the foundation for building projects. This position involves translating architectural and engineering concepts into accurate digital blueprints using AutoCAD software, ensuring all designs comply with industry standards and project specifications. The technician collaborates closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to refine plans and incorporate necessary revisions throughout the project lifecycle. Attention to detail and a strong understanding of construction processes are essential to produce drawings that facilitate efficient construction and minimize errors. Ultimately, the AutoCAD Technician contributes to the successful execution of construction projects by delivering high-quality, clear, and comprehensive technical documentation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an AutoCAD Technician or similar role within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD software with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in drafting, CAD technology, or related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction terminology, materials, and methods.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings accurately.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with 3D modeling software such as Revit or SolidWorks.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and software.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations applicable to construction projects in the United States.
- Certification from recognized professional organizations such as the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA).
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams on large-scale construction projects.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and modify detailed 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings based on project requirements and specifications.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to ensure drawings meet design intent and regulatory standards.
- Review and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical documents to produce accurate digital representations.
- Maintain and organize drawing files and documentation to ensure version control and accessibility for project stakeholders.
- Assist in identifying and resolving design discrepancies or conflicts prior to construction to reduce rework and delays.
