This is a mission-driven volunteer role focused on shaping engaging, hands-on STEM learning experiences for underserved middle school girls. You will contribute to the design and development of lab-based science curriculum that makes complex scientific concepts accessible, interactive, and inspiring. Working closely with educators and subject matter experts, you will help create structured learning modules aligned with educational standards and equity-focused goals. The role blends instructional design, creativity, and scientific understanding to build meaningful learning journeys. You will also support the continuous improvement of existing curriculum materials to ensure quality, relevance, and engagement. This is a collaborative environment where your work directly supports expanding access to STEM education and empowering future generations.
You will be responsible for designing, improving, and supporting lab sciences curriculum content while ensuring alignment with educational standards and mission-driven learning goals.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and educators to design hands-on lab-based learning activities
- Develop structured curriculum modules aligned with STEM education goals and standards
- Ensure lab sciences content is age-appropriate, engaging, and accessible for middle school learners
- Integrate inquiry-based and interactive learning approaches into curriculum materials
- Review and refine existing curriculum content to improve accuracy, clarity, and effectiveness
- Support and mentor curriculum team members, contributing to knowledge sharing and development
- Collaborate with other curriculum teams to ensure interdisciplinary alignment across programs
- Contribute ideas to strengthen engagement, creativity, and learning impact within STEM education initiatives
You are a passionate STEM education advocate with experience in curriculum design and a strong interest in hands-on, experiential learning in science education.
- Strong passion for STEM education and lab sciences
- Experience in curriculum design or instructional development, particularly in science-related subjects
- Understanding of educational standards and best practices in learning design
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to design creative, hands-on, and inquiry-based learning activities
- Experience or interest in mentoring and supporting curriculum development teams
- Familiarity with digital tools used for curriculum creation and collaboration
- Strong commitment to educational equity and expanding access to STEM opportunities for underserved groups
- Ability to work independently in a flexible, volunteer-based environment
