Golf Irrigation Technician at JUF Operations LLC – Fajardo

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Moncayo Golf & Ocean Club, set outside of Fajardo, Puerto Rico.

Moncayo Golf & Ocean Club is seeking an Irrigation Foreman to join the Golf Course Maintenance Department.

Purpose of Position:

The Irrigation Foreman, under the supervision of the Head GC Supervisor and or Irrigation Technician, assists in the programming and, operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system. The irrigation foreman is also required to report any irregularities in course turf quality to the Head GC Supervisor or Irrigation Technician.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers, and working knowledge of various types of pumps and pumping systems. Understanding of agronomy, turfgrass science and the rules of golf.

Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in grounds and landscape area maintenance work. Ability to operate light motorized equipment. Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Work Experience & Education:

2 year minimum golf course irrigation experience

Responsibilies:
Key Result Area: Golf Course Irrigation System Maintenance

• Coordinates with the superintendent and assistant superintendent in all areas of irrigation maintenance.
• Waters greens, tees and fairways as directed.
• Carry out service and repairs to piping, valves, sprinklers, communication lines, irrigation control lines, satellite controllers and wiring as needed.
• Monitors pumps station daily and ensure the pump house is neat and clean at all times.
• Services and repairs floating aerators & fountains on a regular basis.
• Operates irrigation heads in dry areas needing additional water.
• Ensures that trimming around all irrigation heads and QCV’s is performed regularly.
• Completes requests for irrigation and course parts and supplies.
• Repairs greens with seeds or plugs of new grass when needed.
• Carry out all testing procedures as required on controllers
• Ensure the security of company tools and equipment.
• If needed, assists in turf renovation and course fertilization.

Physical Requirements:

• Required to work outside for long periods of time to perform his/her duties
• Required to assist in manual labour activities when necessary
