Maintenance Technician
Buffalo, NY
$21-$22 per hour
Buffalo City Mission is seeking a Maintenance Technician. This position is full-time, working across our Buffalo locations.

Responsibilities:
- Systems Oversight: Evaluate, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. Communicate promptly with leadership regarding any projects requiring specialized external expertise.
- Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine premises inspections and execute scheduled preventative maintenance tasks to minimize equipment downtime.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain facility safety systems, including fire, smoke, and carbon monoxide detectors. Ensure strict adherence to Mission safety protocols and access control regulations.
- Task Management: Effectively manage and update the digital maintenance tracker to ensure clear communication on task status and completion.
- Vendor Liaison: Oversee on-site contractors and external professionals during specialized repairs to ensure work meets Mission standards.
- Structural & Mechanical Repair: Address structural issues and machine malfunctions as they arise to ensure facility integrity.
- Environmental Stewardship: Maintain organizational standards for cleanliness in high-priority areas, including boiler rooms, supply zones, and offices.
- Seasonal Grounds Maintenance: Manage outdoor safety through seasonal snow removal, ice management (salting), and accurate log maintenance.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with supervisors to establish and execute recurring maintenance cycles (weekly, monthly, and annual).
- Mission Alignment: Represent the Buffalo City Mission in a manner that reflects our core values and provides a high level of service to all stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED (Required).
- Associate’s Degree in a technical field (Preferred).
- 2–3 years of experience in preventative maintenance or a related trade.
- Professional certifications in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, or Mechanical fields are highly desirable.
Skills & Requirements:
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and facility equipment.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of OSHA regulations and SDS (Safety Data Sheets) documentation.
- Digital Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital task-tracking software.
- Availability: Must be able to maintain an on-call status outside of regularly scheduled shifts to address facility emergencies.
- Spiritual Alignment: In the midst of a mature walk with Jesus Christ.
