The Apprentice Electrician position is responsible for assisting a Journeyman Electrician in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems on institutional, commercial, and residential job sites. This role involves performing a variety of hands-on tasks in accordance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and company procedures.

The Apprentice Electrician will gain practical experience and develop technical competencies required for progression toward journeyman certification. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality workmanship in all assigned duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Journeyman Electricians with installations, repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance of all electrical systems, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and security systems.
  • Prepare and maintain clean, organized work areas on job sites.
  • Perform conduit work using measuring equipment and hand tools.
  • Diagnose electrical problems using electronic test equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety codes, building regulations, and company policies.
  • Continuously learn and develop technical skills in the electrical trade.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned by your manager.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate required.
  • Preferred enrolment in a pre-electrical apprenticeship program or already enrolled in a 309A
  • Preferred experience interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Strong understanding of OESC electrical codes.
  • Eagerness to learn and take direction from experienced team members.
