About This Position
POSITION SUMMARY
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing all procurement activities to ensure the organization secures high-quality materials, components, and services at competitive costs. This role manages supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and drives cost savings initiatives while ensuring continuity of supply to support production and operational goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Lead and manage all purchasing and procurement activities for raw materials, components, MRO supplies, and services
· Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives and production demands
· Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and favorable conditions
· Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships, including performance monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives
· Collaborate with operations, engineering, and quality teams to ensure material specifications and delivery requirements are met
· Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with planning teams to optimize stock levels and minimize shortages or excess
· Analyze market trends, pricing, and supply risks to proactively adjust sourcing strategies
· Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
· Lead supplier selection, qualification, and evaluation processes
· Identify and implement cost reduction and process improvement opportunities
· Manage and develop purchasing staff

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a normal office environment with minimal physical risks involved. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate. In certain areas of the facility, employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, and hand protection.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 40 pounds. Activities require a significant amount of sitting at office and work desks and in front of a computer monitor. Must be able to regularly walk throughout all the manufacturing facilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis.
· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred
· 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in manufacturing (die casting, machining, or automotive strongly preferred)
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
JOB SKILLS
· Strong negotiation and contract management skills
· Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (Odyssey preferred)
· Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and drive cost savings
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
· Excellent communication and leadership abilities
