About This Position

Description:

SHIFT: Monday – Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM

Job Summary:

Medical records specialists organize and maintain health information both in paper files and in electronic systems. They check data for accuracy, record information, and keep file folders and electronic databases up-to-date. Some of the data they manage includes patient information, medical histories, physician exams, test results, treatments and services provided. In addition to their clerical duties, records specialists often consult with health care professionals to make sure information is accurate. Employee will adhere to and comply with the RA Code of Conduct, RA Employee Handbook, and HIPAA Compliance.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The responsibilities listed below are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the duties required to perform this job.

- Manage and process physical records (paper) as required.

- Manage and process incoming and outgoing medical records requests in a timely manner using the approved Medical Records Request Form.

- Template physician’s progress notes.

- Transmit past progress notes to referring physicians and primary care providers.

- Manage and process electronic faxes as they come into the ECW fax server.

- Review schedules for add-ons.

- Annual TB Screening and Flu Vaccination required.

- Ability to listen to get clarification from patients and providers.

- Experience with eClinicalWorks EMR system preferred

Education and Experience:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.

- One to two years’ experience working in a medical office setting preferred.

- Prior knowledge of Microsoft Office, primarily Word and Excel.

Physical Demands:

- Must be able to remain in a stationary, sitting position 80% of the time.

- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machinery, etc.

- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy/fax machine and computer printer.

- The person in this position frequently communicates via incoming and outgoing calls with physician’s offices to request and send patient’s medical records via multi line phone.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, multi-line phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
