Rate of Pay: $27.01 to $33.38 per hour

Hours of Work per Week: 21.00 hours

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager, Public Services or designate, this position is responsible for:

  • Driving the bookmobile and delivering circulation and outreach services from the bookmobile.
  • Performing all circulation functions, including charge/discharge materials, open and update customer accounts and reports.
  • Reconcile cash and perform banking duties daily.
  • Resolve customer account problems and queries.
  • Assist customers with requests for materials and holds.
  • Provide troubleshooting for hardware and software issues.
  • Monitor and request supplies.
  • Secure the property including locking and unlocking library vehicles.
  • Maintain material as needed for repair and discard.
  • Operate the Bookmobile - perform basic daily vehicle log and inspections.
  • Operate office equipment (e.g. computer, debit machine, etc.).
  • Provide information about library resources and services.
  • Assist in maintaining: an inviting and orderly library environment, prompt and efficient customer service.
  • Perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health & Safety Program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma plus two (2) years post-secondary education from a Community College or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years commercial driving experience.
  • Must hold and maintain a current valid and lawful Class D Driver’s Licence in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, for the purposes of operating a City of Windsor vehicle and provide a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment.
  • Must have over one (1) year of customer service experience.
  • Must be proficient in keyboarding and have knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Must demonstrate excellent public service and customer relation skills.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of the online catalogue and circulation modules.
  • Respond willingly to flexibility in assignment and changing tasks in a team environment.
  • Public Library experience is considered a definite asset.
  • Ability to perform physical work, bend, reach and lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to work on weekends.
