Job Title: Learning Support Teacher
Location: Campus
Status: Full-Time, Salaried
Reports To: Elementary School Principal
Job Summary:
As the Learning Support Teacher, you will offer high quality and appropriate teaching support to all children individually, in small group, and classroom instruction. You will ensure that student’s special requirements and additional learning needs are met. You will be responsible to provide spiritual leadership to the students entrusted to their care.

Key Responsibilities:
Student Support:
- Ensure support plans are being followed, Accommodating Resource Plans (ARPs), Individual Student Resource Plans (ISRPs); recording student progress.
- Work closely with the Principal and other learning support staff to plan and determine student needs.
- Attend and participate in meetings with classroom teachers, administration and parents to keep them informed of students’ progress and needs.
- Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
Instruction:
- Meet with students individually and in small groups to complete formal and informal assessments.
- Provide push-in and pull-out services for general education teachers.
- Use relevant technology to support differentiated instruction where applicable.
- Integrate biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the activities.
- Maintain a positive learning environment.
- Facilitate and lead others to collect and organize data collection (DIBELS, Acadience, Nova).
- Assist with administrating learning support resources and ensure current assessment tools are maintained.
- Analyze testing data and IEP reports to problem solve for individual students in collaboration with service staff and teacher teams.
- Collect and prepare universal screening and progress monitoring data for intervention planning meeting discussions.
Case Management:
- Work closely with other learning support staff to contribute to the design and implementation of initiatives for continuous improvement in delivery of learning support in the school.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of the students.
- Create lesson plans to target specific skill deficits.
Other Duties:
- Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
- Assess incoming students to the school.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Participate in appropriate professional activities.
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting events, clubs and student organizations.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, or a related field required.
- Appropriate state teaching certification or licensure, or willingness to obtain, required.
- Previous experience as a teacher, preferably as a learning support teacher, preferred.
- Skilled in research-based reading and math strategies; experience administering literacy and math assessments.
- Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently and sets goals and objectives.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality and monitors own work to ensure quality.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dedication to creating an intellectually stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
- Proficiency in educational technology for instructional purposes.
- Classroom management skills and effective behavior intervention strategies.
- High degree of skill with Microsoft Office Suite and other Windows applications; experience using student learning management system software (i.e., FACTS, etc.)
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth.
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to stand, sit, move around the classroom for extended periods, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Lifting, bending, and carrying classroom materials and supplies.
- Operate a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine.
- Effective communication, both verbal and written, and listen regularly.
