Summary / Objective

The VP, Commercial Loan Manager is responsible for assisting the Commercial Lending Team in coordinating the closing of loans in compliance with the Bank’s lending policies and procedures. This position supports the EVP & Chief Lending Officer in managing the commercial lending functions such as processing and closing of all types of CRE, C&I, SBA & Construction loans of the Bank. This responsibility would also involve developing and implementing the policies and procedures relating to the commercial loan functions.

Experience & Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a lending environment
  • Background in financial institution’s commercial lending procedures
  • Background in understanding legal documentation and loan operations for commercial lending purposes
  • Proven customer service and supervisory experience

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee the workflow and answers procedural questions of the VP, Commercial Loan Support, as well as a team of Commercial Loan Assistant(s), Commercial Loan Associate(s), Sr. Commercial Loan Assistant(s), Sr. Commercial Loan Associate(s), and Administrative Assistant(s).
  • Coordinate audits for the commercial lending function to include coordination of system access, collection of documentation, answering auditor questions and development of action plans when needed.
  • Oversee the construction advance process which includes processing requests, inspections, title updates, and the advancing of funds.
  • Monitor and report payment delinquencies to reduce delinquencies and ensure prompt action by the responsible party.
  • Responsible for vendor management for the commercial loan function.
  • Responsible for accounts payable for the commercial loan function.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to the commercial loan administration function.
  • Review files for regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible to develop department procedures to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Serve as administrator of imaging, document preparation, construction advance and due diligence systems.
  • Attend Technology Committee meetings as representative for commercial lending.
  • Attend Compliance Committee meetings as representative for commercial lending.
  • Lead the working group meeting for the Bank’s imaging system to include preparation of meeting agendas, tracking tasks for completion, developing test plans and conducting tests as needed.
  • Review and respond to legal process for the commercial lending function.
  • Coordinate collection activities for the commercial lending function.
  • Develop business continuity plans for the commercial loan administration function and participate in disaster recovery exercises as representative of commercial lending.
  • Circulate departmental reports as needed, request comments, analyze responses, verify accuracy and ensure correct plan of action to adhere with internal policies and procedures
  • Conduct all necessary due diligence for commercial loans to include: order and review appraisals, environmental reports, and corporate searches, as well as file and terminate uniform commercial code filings
  • Prepare loan closing documents, etc. and coordinates loan closings with outside counsel
  • Ensure loan files contain documents with proper signature, legal descriptions, closing dates and other relevant data
  • Sets up new loan and credit files, maintain existing loan and credit files and ensure that the information is complete and accurate
  • Assist loan officers with tracking all closing conditions of the loan and follow up with post-closing items in a timely manner, providing administrative assistance, as needed
  • Prepare modifications in compliance will loan approval and internal policies and procedures
  • Answer customer service inquiries via telephone and email, assists customers concerning routine loan inquiries and conduct research as necessary in order to provide superior customer service
  • Maintain knowledge of department policies and procedures through internal and external training activities
