About This Position

Description:

The Vice President of AAMWA is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the strategic execution, operational excellence, and revenue growth of all AAMWA programs across multiple markets. This position serves as the primary accountability leader for the performance of Executive Directors, ensuring that all agency initiatives are aligned nationally, executed with consistency, and operating at the highest standard of excellence.

The Vice President will prioritize business development, including sponsorships, partnerships, and revenue diversification, while ensuring flawless execution of grants, contracts, and signature initiatives such as Black Men’s Wellness Day, Real Men Real Talk, mental wellness, physical wellness, fatherhood, financial wellness, Uplift Her and related campaigns. This role reports directly to the President and functions as a key member of the executive leadership team.

Core Responsibilities

National Program Leadership & Execution

Provide direct oversight, coaching, and performance management of Executive Directors across all assigned markets.

Ensure consistent, high-quality execution of all agency initiatives, programs, and events nationwide.

Standardize operational processes, reporting, and performance metrics across markets to drive accountability and excellence.

Monitor program outcomes, KPIs, and impact metrics to ensure alignment with strategic goals and funder expectations.

Business Development & Revenue Growth (Priority)

Lead and support business development efforts across all markets, including corporate sponsorships, healthcare partnerships, foundations, and public-sector opportunities.

Partner closely with Executive Directors to identify, pursue, and close new revenue opportunities.

Ensure strong pipelines for grants, contracts, and sponsorships, with clear ownership and execution plans.

Collaborate with the President on multi-year partnership strategies and national growth targets.

Strategic Alignment & National Consistency

Ensure all programs, messaging, and execution align with the agency’s national strategy, brand, and mission.

Drive cross-market collaboration and shared best practices to elevate performance organization-wide.

Serve as a key liaison between field leadership and the President, translating strategy into execution.

Grant, Contract & Compliance Oversight

Ensure all grants and contracts are executed in full compliance with funder requirements, timelines, and deliverables.

Oversee invoicing accuracy, reporting deadlines, and documentation in partnership with finance and operations.

Proactively identify and mitigate operational or compliance risks across markets.

Leadership, Culture & Talent Development

Build a high-performance, accountability-driven culture among Executive Directors and their teams.

Set clear expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, and implement corrective action plans when necessary.

Identify leadership gaps and recommend talent development, restructuring, or staffing changes as needed.

Reporting & Executive Communication

Deliver concise, data-driven weekly and monthly performance reports to the President.

Provide executive-level insights on market performance, risks, opportunities, and strategic recommendations.

Support board-level reporting and presentations as requested.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 8–10 years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit management, public health, community engagement, or related fields.
  • Proven experience managing multi-site or multi-market teams at the executive director or equivalent level.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, fundraising, sponsorship acquisition, and partnership growth.
  • Strong operational acumen with experience overseeing grants, contracts, budgets, and compliance.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and performance management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working with health equity, wellness, or community-based organizations.
  • Familiarity with corporate, healthcare, and public-sector funding environments.
  • Data-driven mindset with comfort using dashboards, KPIs, and performance analytics.
