About This Position
Packing Production Supervisor

The Packaging Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily packaging production operations, ensuring quality standards are met, productivity targets are achieved, and a safe and efficient work environment is maintained. The Gary facility operates as a packing and distribution plant operating up to four packing lines, utilizing manual labor and automation to pack products for rapid distribution.
This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced packaging segment of manufacturing environment and demonstrates critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead packing line operations while resolving operation and equipment-related issues in real time.
We are looking for someone with:
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, sanitation, and GMP requirements.
- Monitor product quality and enforce quality control standards to meet customer specifications.
- Supervise and coordinate daily production and packaging activities across assigned packing lines.
- Train, coach, and support operators and line leads to improve performance and consistency.
- Ensure work orders, packaging specifications and production schedules are executed accurately and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot equipment, setup, and operational issues and coordinate with maintenance when required.
- Track productivity metrics and complete required production reporting and data entry.
- Address performance concerns and support corrective action processes as needed.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Review, verify, and approve employee timecards to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Oversees the day-to-day performance of approximately 30–60 operators through line leads.
- Provides operational direction and coaching but does not directly supervise line leads.
- Supervises staff performing transactional and repetitive production processes in a high-volume environment.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience manufacturing or packaging experience.
- 2-3 years of supervisory experience team leadership experience preferred.
Physical/Mental Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift on a production floor. The employee is required to use hands and arms to reach, handle, and manipulate materials, equipment controls, tools, and packaging components.
The employee is frequently required to bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb as needed to monitor production lines, troubleshoot equipment, and support operational workflow. The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally assist with moving materials or products during line setup, changeovers, or operational disruptions.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus in a manufacturing environment. The employee must also possess sufficient hearing to safely respond to equipment alarms, audible warnings, and verbal communication on the production floor.
Mental demands include the ability to maintain situational awareness in a fast-paced production environment, prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, respond to operational issues in real time, interpret work orders and production specifications, and make sound decisions under time constraints while maintaining attention to detail and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Work is performed in an office, but may require going to the plant or warehouse, where temperatures may vary, and noise levels are high. Personal Protective Equipment is required, i.e. safety glasses, ear protection, steel toe shoes, protective gloves.
