RN-New Grad Trainee at Samaritan Health Services – Newport, Oregon

Transition position provides guided orientation to help integrate and apply medical knowledge and sharpen technical skills for newly graduated Registered Nurses. Accountable for utilizing the nursing process to provide safe, age-appropriate, direct and indirect patient care, while practicing within the scope of practice of the Oregon State Board of Nursing.

The LDRP team offers labor, delivery and recovery including post partum and newborn care by a highly trained team of nurses and medical staff in a family centered caring and medically safe environment. All sites are trained in GYN surgical care.

Current unencumbered Oregon RN license required.

PCH LDRP All: Ability to function effectively in crisis situations. Possess critical, independent thinking skills. Basic knowledge of lactation and the initiation of breastfeeding. Knowledge of all perinatal emergency alarms.

PCH Labor and Delivery: Knowledge of the physical and psychological changes of pregnancy, birth and the immediate postpartum period for the mother and her neonate. Ability to initiate appropriate interventions in caring for the family during the immediate newborn period, accepts responsibility for actions. Possess assessment skills specific to the high risk pregnancy. Ability to initiate an intravenous line. Basic knowledge and understanding of pharmacodynamics of anesthesia and analgesia.

PCH Nursery: Knowledge of the physical and psychological changes of the neonate immediately after birth, and during the newborn period. Ability to initiate appropriate interventions in caring for the family during the immediate newborn period, accepts responsibility for actions. Possess assessment skills specific to the high risk neonate.

PCH Postpartum Gynecological Unit: Knowledge of the physical and psychological changes of pregnancy, birth and the immediate postpartum period for the mother and her neonate. Ability to initiate appropriate interventions in caring for the family after delivery.
