Still She Rises, Inc. (SSR) provides free legal representation to pregnant women, women with children, or women who are child caregivers and facing legal matters in the criminal, family policing, and/or economic justice space. Still She Rises seeks to employ highly motivated individuals with a commitment to indigent defense. Founded in North Tulsa, Still She Rises offers client-centered, innovative, and holistic legal representation. We honor the dignity of the women we serve by championing our clients' individual goals while also targeting systemic issues impacting the larger community.
Job Description:
SSR seeks a highly motivated and compassionate professional to join our team as a Client Advocate. Client Advocates work closely with attorneys and other team members to support clients involved in legal proceedings. They play a critical role in helping clients navigate complex bureaucratic systems and social service programs.
Client Advocates work to ensure clients are treated fairly, and that clients' unique needs are acknowledged and met, while aligning their efforts with broader legal strategies. This position is ideal for a proactive problem-solver who can think critically under pressure and is interested in the intricacies of the legal system and working in a dynamic organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain relationships with key contacts in court mandated and preferred programs and services.
- Interview clients to assess their non-legal needs and goals.
- Anticipate and assess potential services, resources, and systems that may impact the client's case.
- Assist clients with navigating expectations and requirements of programs and services.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date internal records.
- Document client interactions and progress clearly and thoroughly.
- Provide insight, perspective, and training on programs and services for client teams.
- Create supporting documentation, informational memos, and mitigation reports.
- Attend court, and meetings in jails and other off-site locations to support clients directly.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Willingness to build expertise in legal, social service, and bureaucratic systems.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High emotional intelligence and cultural humility.
- Ability to translate complex systems and processes into accessible, actionable steps for clients.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong time management skills in balancing deadlines set by various sources including clients, colleagues, and external systems.
- Demonstrated follow-through and accountability.
- Flexibility in responding to shifting needs and priorities.
- Critical thinking and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Strong interpersonal and empathetic listening skills.
- Passion for criminal justice reform, and social and racial justice.
Preferred Qualities (Not Required):
- Experience working with marginalized communities.
- Background in legal advocacy or public service.
- Multilingual abilities.
Compensation: $50,000 annually + medical, dental, vision, life, FSA, and 401k with 4% employer contribution.
