About This Position
The Staff Accountant will be expected to handle full cycle accounting for multiple entities, banking and credit card transactions, invoice accounts receivable, and assist with projects. The Staff Accountant reports to the Controller and is responsible for applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), reviewing, and analyzing financial information, and preparing financial reports. The ideal candidate is responsive, thoughtful, self-directed, positive, and seeking a challenging role. LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY. This is an in-office position.
Responsibilities of our Staff Accountant
- Oversee all accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and detailed descriptions.
- Able to identify discrepancies and resolve them while analyzing financial data.
- Recording and reconciling all bank and credit card transactions.
- Maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
- Accurate and timely recording of trust funds to the IOLTA accounts, ensuring the firm stays compliant with legal obligations.
- Collaborating with key personnel in various departments as appropriate.
- Creating best practice procedures for accounting activities and driving process improvements, utilizing technology to improve efficiency.
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
Qualifications of our Staff Accountant
- The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and effective in problem-solving.
- The candidate must be committed to quality, customer service, teamwork, and supporting department goals.
- This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, superior attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize.
- The candidate must have strong technology skills, including intermediate-level Excel skills and the ability to master and leverage accounting systems and new technology solutions.
- Strong ethical standards with a keen sense of confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- Must be a team player and willing to coordinate as needed with all staff at the firm.
Experience Required for our Staff Accountant
- A four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience performing accounts payable and receivable related duties with an ERP accounting system such as Sage Intacct or NetSuite.
- Experience at a professional service firm, such as a law firm, is a plus.
