About the Role:
The Project Designer I plays a critical role in the utilities industry by supporting the planning, design, and implementation of infrastructure projects that ensure reliable and efficient delivery of utility services. Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Basic knowledge of utility infrastructure design principles and industry standards.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Internship or co-op experience in the utilities or infrastructure sector.
- Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and project management software.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and safety standards relevant to utility projects.
- EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification or progress toward professional engineering licensure.
- Experience with sustainable design practices and energy-efficient technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of detailed design drawings and specifications for utility infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure designs meet technical standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare cost estimates and material lists to support project budgeting and procurement activities.
- Review project documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to facilitate project progress and resolve design-related issues.
- Support the preparation of reports, presentations, and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in site visits and inspections to verify design implementation and gather data for project updates.
