We are currently looking for an Innovation Engineer to be at the forefront of developing new products and enhancing existing products. This role is instrumental in driving innovation, improving product performance, and staying ahead of business trends. You will work closely with a cross-functional team and support all aspects of the innovation pipeline including product concept, design of experiment, technical analysis, validation, production introduction, and commercialization support. A great Innovation Engineer combines technical thinking with curiosity, adaptability, and collaborative energy. You should have willingness to learn, improve and grow. Being a team player is essential since all tasks will require close collaboration with co-workers. The goal will be to ensure world-class products for our customers.

  • Conduct research to identify new materials, processes, and technologies relevant to our industry.
  • Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to create and test innovative new solutions while driving to optimize development time, performance, quality, efficiency of processes, and cost objectives.
  • Design and conduct material tests, analyze results, and make data-driven recommendations for product improvements in a timely manner.
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, reduce costs, and enhance product quality in the production process.
  • Create prototypes and proof-of-concept models to validate new ideas and concepts.
  • In collaboration with the Quality Manager, establish quality standards and guidelines for new products and monitor product performance to ensure they meet customer expectations and meet relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of research, testing, and development activities, and communicate findings effectively within the organization.
  • Develop a collaborative relationship with all departments to seamlessly integrate innovations into products.
  • Stay abreast of industry and market trends and advancements.
  • Provide administrative and analytical support to the team.
  • All other duties, as assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related STEM field.
  • 1-5 years’ proven experience in product development or materials research. Experience in Coating, Laminating, Extrusion, Printing or Flexible Packaging preferred.
  • Six Sigma or Lean Certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong organizational, data analysis, and project management skills required.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work at a fast pace. Complete projects under tight deadlines, even when there are competing or changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain cooperative, diplomatic working relationships at all levels of the company. Work independently and as part of a team to collaborate with colleagues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent computer skills: PC, MS Office (including Excel), Syteline or similar ERP system
