POSITION SUMMARY:

The Patient Services Representative – FT is responsible for providing exceptional front-line customer service to patients, families, and visitors. This role includes scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting payments, and maintaining accurate patient records. The representative serves as a key liaison between patients and clinical staff, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience throughout the patient journey.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and empathy.
  • Schedule appointments and manage provider calendars.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
  • Collect co-pays, balances, and provide receipts.
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to inquiries or route appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the EHR.
  • Assist with patient registration and check-in/check-out processes.
  • Resolve patient concerns or escalate to appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Support clinical staff with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Participate in training and quality improvement initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a healthcare or customer service setting.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance processes.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and scheduling systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
  • Commitment to patient satisfaction and confidentiality.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:

  • Exerting up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Have close visual acuity to perform an activity including viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, interpretation, etc.
  • Must possess the physical, mental, and cognitive skills needed to complete essential tasks, including abilities such as learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for comprehension, problem-solving, and timely decision-making.
  • Must be able to be stationary for prolonged periods of time
