JOB RELATIONSHIPS

• Responsible to the Health Information Management Director

DEFINITION OF POSITION

• Is responsible for the following duties: 1) Receives and processes all internal and external requests for the release of patient health information. 2) Processes requests within the guidelines of federal, state and hospital policies. 3) Enters and completes requests in the Medical Records module of Meditech, 4) keeps abreast of changes regarding HIPAA and the privacy regulations, 5) Prepares and sends out appropriate invoices for requested information., keeps a log on invoices paid and those that are outstanding, 6) Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Professional

  • Requires high school graduate

  • Knowledge of computers

  • Working knowledge of basic office machines ex., printers, fax machines, copy machines.

  • Has basic understanding of HIPAA Privacy regulations.
