About This Position
Description
As the Director of Capital Design and Construction, you will:
- Oversee and manage capital and State of Good Repair (SGR) construction projects and programs through project design, construction, commissioning, and quality control processes.
- Develop and manage strategic programs consistent with the philosophy of constructing mass transit services, and interact with government agencies responsible for permitting, planning, and funding/financing capital transit projects.
- Build networks and relationships among all UTA stakeholders to develop short- and long-term programs, including obtaining information, other resources, and funding.
- Coordinate allocation of these resources among capital construction projects.
- Work with the Chief Capital Services Officer and other executives to develop new ridership, create new revenue opportunities, and maintain a positive corporate image through successful completion of capital and SGR construction projects.
EXPERIENCE:
- Seven years developing and directing strategic capital projects to include sustainability initiatives.
- Seven years in a leadership role overseeing major capital rail and bus transportation projects and construction teams.
- Three years managing the regional transportation construction process or management experience in transportation, transit operations, maintenance, or mass transit related discipline.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering, construction management, or urban planning. Professional Engineering license preferred; Master’s degree in one of the above fields or related field preferred (e.g., MBA).
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Demonstrated ability to lead and implement complex business strategies through influence, communication, and coordination within and outside of formal authority channels to include building and maintaining relationships with community and government stakeholders.
- Must possess strong negotiation, verbal and written, presentation and facilitation skills.
- This job requires regular and predictable attendance.

Pay Range: $135,400 to 169,200.00 depending on experience
