The Department of Neurology seeks an experienced Research Coordinator to manage the day-to-day operation and coordination of current and future research projects conducted in Dr. Eliza Miller’s clinical research program in women’s brain health. The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree with 2 years' experience in health services, health administration, public health, or a related field, and experience in clinical research, including both clinical trials and observational studies. Primary responsibilities will be to facilitate the identification, screening and recruitment of eligible participants, conduct participant study visits, and train, direct, and supervise junior research study staff and/or students on study-related tasks. This individual will also assist and oversee data collection processes (including electronic medical record review), data entry, evaluation and analyses for this study, as well as assist with other research-related duties in the lab. Experience with REDCap databases and the UPMC Epic electronic medical record system is preferred but not required. |
Prepares grant applications, manuscripts, Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, research papers, and assists with complex research papers. Audits research studies, monitors study budgets, resolves complex data collection issues, and implements protocol-specific study recruitment plans. Trains staff and oversees student workers; leads team meetings. Monitors study budgets and orders supplies.
Essential Functions
Coordinates all aspects of one or more research projects for the Miller Lab research program, including planning, design, and implementation.
- Assures project tasks are completed on time, in scope, and in adherence to all applicable regulations.
- Coordinates the work activities for and across multiple functions; ensures completion of tasks.
- Provides leadership, direction, and expertise to improve and/or meet project goals.
- Tracks and prepares updates of project progress and/or associated performance indicators against milestones.
- Maintains communication with lab team members and seeks/offers assistance when necessary.
