About This Position

Material Handler

Full-Time - Morris, CT

Job Description:

The Material Handler is tasked with packaging finished lighting products in the correct, product-specific cartons; verifying order quantities against pick tickets/packing lists; and palletizing, labeling, and staging shipments for carrier pickup. The role supports on-time, damage-free deliveries by following standard work, documentation, and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

· Pick, package, and protect finished lights using the correct boxes, inserts, and packing materials.

· Verify quantities and SKUs against sales orders/pick tickets; resolve discrepancies before shipment.

· Palletize orders (stack pattern, corner boards, stretch-wrap) and apply shipping/customer labels.

· Stage, weigh, and measure pallets; prepare/print packing lists and assist with BOLs as needed.

· Perform final visual checks for cosmetic/quality issues prior to packing; escalate any defects.

· Use barcode scanners/ERP to record moves, close picks, and update shipment status.

· Replenish packaging supplies and keep the shipping area organized (5S) and safe.

· Assist with loading/unloading trucks and internal material moves (pallet jack/forklift).

· Support cycle counts and inventory accuracy activities.

· Meet daily throughput goals while following all safety, ESD (if applicable), and handling procedures.

Requirements:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Ability to read, write, speak in English

· Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks safely.

· Basic math and tape-measure skills; strong attention to detail for counts and labels.

· Comfort with barcode scanners and basic computer/ERP entry (training provided).

· Forklift/pallet jack experience or certification a plus.

· Reliable, team-oriented, and able to work overtime as needed.
