About This Position

KAIROS, Inc is searching for an energetic, experienced, and highly motivated System Administrator, to join our team. This position is contingent upon contract award. This position will be onsite in Charleston, SC.

This position provides enterprise level IT systems administration, operations, and maintenance support for the U.S. Army Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC). This role ensures secure, compliant, and highly available IT services across NIPR, SIPR, and cloud environments supporting a worldwide logistics mission.

Primary Duties:
  • Core System Administration
    • Perform day‑to‑day administration of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file/print services, and virtualization platforms.
    • Configure, patch, optimize, and troubleshoot servers, storage, and end‑user devices across SDDC sites.
    • Maintain standardized imaging processes, workstation deployments, and hardware lifecycle actions.
    • Support multi‑domain environments including NIPR, SIPR, and isolated R&D networks.
  • Security Compliance & STIG Implementation
    • Apply and maintain DISA STIGs across all systems (servers, workstations, applications).
    • Conduct vulnerability scans using ACAS, review findings, and implement remediation plans.
    • Support RMF security artifacts, POA&Ms, and audit‑ready documentation.
    • Assist with ATO sustainment, security testing, and continuous monitoring requirements.
  • Monitoring & Incident Management
    • Utilize enterprise monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, WhatsUp Gold, Splunk) to detect system issues, outages, or performance degradation.
    • Provide rapid incident response during duty hours and after‑hours (≤30 minutes on‑site, ≤2 hours on‑call, as required).
    • Document incidents and track resolutions in accordance with ISO 9001 and ITIL‑aligned processes.
  • Backup, Recovery, & Continuity Operations
    • Execute automated backups, periodic restoration tests, and disaster recovery procedures.
    • Maintain site‑specific COOP/DR documentation and ensure readiness for contingencies.
  • Knowledge Management & Documentation
    • Maintain system configuration baselines, SOPs, architecture diagrams, and technical documentation.
    • Contribute to knowledge base updates supporting continuity across SDDC’s global locations.
    • Provide input for monthly status reports, compliance reports, and transition‑in/transition‑out deliverables.
  • Tools & Technologies Supported
    • OS & Virtualization: Windows Server, VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter, Hyper‑V
    • Security & Compliance: ACAS/Nessus, HBSS, STIG Viewer, eMASS
    • Enterprise Management: SCCM, WSUS, AD/GPO
    • Monitoring: SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, WhatsUp Gold, Splunk
    • Scripting: PowerShell, Bash
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Required:
    • Hands on experience with STIGs, vulnerability remediation, and ACAS scanning
    • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, and enterprise monitoring tools
    • Ability to support after hours or emergency response
    • Strong customer relations, analytics, documentation skills
    • Self-starter, highly motivated, strong work ethic with a commitment to quality
    • Microsoft office suite proficiency, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Ability to work within a challenging, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
    • Ability to work independently
    • Ability to multi-task and meet competing, deliverable deadlines
    • Detail oriented
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide clear status and/or communicate issues
    • Ability to adapt to evolving technology
  • Preferred:
    • Familiarity with Army/NETCOM environments
    • Experience with SIPR systems and classified network support
    • ITIL v4 Foundation certification
    • Experience with cloud-hosted systems (Azure Gov, AWS GovCloud)
    • Prior SDDC, TRANSCOM, or logistics IT support experience

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related technical field from an accredited college or university. Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree.
  • 3–5+ years of system administration experience in DoD or enterprise environments
  • DoD 8140/8570 IAT II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, or equivalent)
  • Computing Environment (CE) certification required within 6 months
Clearance:
This position is subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. In order to complete the requirements for government security clearance investigation you must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to complete the full background investigation. This position requires an Active Secret Security Clearance.

Compensation:
While skills, education, and experience are key factors, they are not the sole determinants of salary. Other determining factors include but are not limited to location, contract budgets and requirements, and government labor category guidelines. The estimated salary range for this position is $80,000 to $135,000. KAIROS also provides a comprehensive benefits package as additional employee compensation.
