Advanced Laser Systems Technology (ALST) has an immediate opening for an EHS Lead to support EHS activities in Orlando and NH locations.

Job Summary

The Environment, Health and Safety Lead is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health and Safety programs for IMS – NH and Florida locations. This position plays a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance, driving a safety culture, supporting risk reduction initiatives, managing workplace injury claims, and maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible workplace.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and oversee EH&S programs, including industrial hygiene, personal protective equipment, hazardous materials, hazardous waste management, ergonomics, emergency planning & response hazard communication, electrical safety, contractor safety, hot work safety, machine safeguarding, air emissions, industrial wastewater discharge, storm water pollution prevention, and sustainability.
  • Follow ITAR requirements including training, establishing facility access controls, record keeping and disposal of ITAR-controlled hardware and / or documents in compliance with ITAR requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at minimizing safety and environmental risks within site processes.
  • Serves as the immediate site point of contact for external agencies.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, and job hazard analysis.
  • Develop, review and update lockout/tagout placards and machine guarding assessments.
  • Lead incident reporting and investigation, including corrective and preventatives actions.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training as required to employees and contractors.
  • Participates in review and approval of operations/facilities projects that involve proposed modification of any existing process, equipment, or material as well as proposed introduction of any new process, equipment, or materials to ensure compliance.
  • Complete all required internal and external reporting requirements accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Develops and coordinate emergency preparedness efforts, including drills, spill response, and evacuation planning.
  • Acts as a main point of contact for WC claims, liaising with case managers and healthcare providers.
  • Develop and oversee early and safe return-to-work plans in collaboration with site leadership.
  • Manages hazardous materials management system and maintains SDS databases.
  • Complete pollution prevention and sustainability reporting, projects, or initiatives.
  • Foster trust and confidence with internal stakeholders by driving change through collaborative, constructive solutions to EHS challenges, while demonstrating strong EHS leadership.
  • Support site leadership in achieving EHS goals and objectives.
  • Performs related duties or special projects as directed.

REQUIRED CAPABILITIES

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, RCRA, DOT, and EPA regulations to ensure comprehensive and compliant safety programs.
  • Complete and maintain required documentation for Air Emissions and EPA reporting at both locations.
  • Ability to support off-shift or weekend activities and response measures as needed.
  • Ability to travel between Florida and NH locations as needed.
  • Ability to self-manage, work independently, and be results oriented.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient computer and technical application skills (technical writing, database, and data management).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analysis skills.
  • Exhibits sound judgment and professionalism in all situations.
  • Ability to work evenings and / or weekends to support business needs.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 9 years of prior related experience, or a graduate degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
  • 7+ years of Environmental, Health and Safety experience, leading EHS initiatives in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years’ experience working in an ITAR controlled facility and compliance with ITAR requirements.
  • Solid working knowledge and technical understanding of Environmental Regulations and Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Practical experience developing, training, and implementing EH&S programs and training.
  • 4+ years’ experience with worker compensation claims management
  • Proficient understanding of US OSHA recordkeeping requirements
  • Experience conducting investigations and root cause analysis.
