Overview
The Inpatient Applications Manager (IAM) is responsible for all aspects of the Epic Inpatient Clinical project which includes ED, Inpatient documentation, Orders, Inpatient Pharmacy, Infection Control, Oncology clinical orders/treatment workflows, and EMR interoperability. Responsibilities include the identification of changes required in current workflow, system design, build, and educational materials. In addition, the manager is responsible for managing the inpatient analyst staff and implementation tasks associated with the project to ensure that all implementation tasks are completed within the timelines outlined by the Epic project manager and director.
Responsibilities
· Maintains the scope, schedule, and quality of the project for all Inpatient systems implementations and the operations and sunset of legacy systems.
· Works closely with the project director and other project managers to coordinate activities
· Ensures that the business community is engaged in the project to ensure that the application development and deployment is performed in an efficient, cost effective and technically sound manner while meeting the needs and goals of the organization
· Builds and directs the Inpatient applications team: provide guidance to the project team through the design, build, implementation and maintenance phases of the system replacement; ensure a common vision, plan and goal are maintained across all areas of the project
· Reviews the progress of the project on an ongoing basis with the Epic implementation coordinator
· Provides regular status updates, including reporting of escalated issues and solutions to the Epic Program Director
· Serves as escalation point for all project and operation issues; maintains FirstHealth standards for exceptional customer service and communication to all staff while providing resolutions; inform customers of work progress, ensure timeliness and accuracy
· Develop staff in accordance with position accountabilities and FirstHealth standards; schedule and assign work; provide timely and high-quality performance feedback
Qualifications
Education and Formal Training:
BS/BA degree in Nursing/Allied Health/Information Technology required, or equivalent combination of education and advanced industry experience. Licensure and/or Clinical Certification required, if applicable to the degree.
Work Experience:
Minimum of 5 years experience in a hospital/health system clinical environment. Minimum two years experience working in Information Systems role. Project management and previous supervisory experience preferred. Previous experience with inpatient clinical systems is required.
